Be Fun Obstacles

Distance:

Approximately 6 km
 

Suggested age:

12 years. Kids under 12 must run with an adult or caretaker who can assist them on the course and over the obstacles.
 

Number of obstacles:

14 built obstacles.
 

Running fitness:

We suggest that competitors must be able to walk or jog at least 5 km on a tar road or trail route.
 

Skill level required:

Only a basic skill level is needed to complete this course.
 

Activities required:

Walking, Climbing, Balancing, Gliding, Scaling.
 

What if I cannot do an obstacle?

No problem. The Be Fun category is our fun category. Should you fail an obstacle you need to do 10 burpees and then swiftly move around the obstacle towards your next challenge. You are however still eligible for prizes during the lucky draw.
 

Be Fun Obstacles

Suggested age:

14 years. Kids under 14 must run with an adult or caretaker who can assist them on the course and over the obstacles.
 

Number of obstacles:

22 built obstacles.
 

Running fitness:

We suggest that competitors must be able to jog an 8 km road or trail route comfortably.
 

Skill level required:

An intermediate skill level will be required as the competitors will hang from their own body weight at least once during the course.
 

Activities required:

Running, Climbing, Balancing, Hanging, Gliding, Scaling.
 

What if I cannot do an obstacle?

The BE FIT category is a category with prizes. Should you fail to complete an obstacle you are technically disqualified but may do 10 burpees and bypass the obstacle in order to finish the race. Disqualified competitors may not receive position prizes but are still part of the lucky draws.

Intermediate to high skill level is required as competitors’ grip strength will be tested during the course.
 

Activities required:

Running, Climbing, Balancing, Hanging, Gliding, Scaling, Swinging, Pulling, Carrying.
 

What if I cannot do an obstacle?

The BE FAST category is a category with prizes. Should you fail to complete an obstacle you are technically disqualified but may do 10 burpees and bypass the obstacle in order to complete the course. Disqualified competitors may not receive position prizes but are still part of the lucky draws.
 

Obstacles below for the Be Active OCR are described in no specific order.

 

• Tyre field
  The Tyre Field consist of a series of tyres and should be crossed by stepping inbetween each and every tyre in a straight line in front of you. Competitors may not step on top of the tyres.
   
• Trip wires
  The Trip Wires should be crossed by staying in the upright position and placing your feet in between the wires. Only one foot needs to touch in between 2 wires.
   
• Espalier
  The Espalier should be crossed by climbing over all the beams in any way you can.
   
• Bridge swing
  Bridge Swing should be crossed by simply stepping from one tyre to the next across the swinging bridge.
   
• Get a grip
  Get A Grip should be crossed by swinging from one side of the obstacle to the next without touching the ground underneath the obstacle.
   
• Diagonal
  Diagonal should be crossed by touching one pole with your hands and touching the opposite pole with your feet. You now need to shuffle your way across to the other side.
   
• Horizontal ladder
  Horizontal Ladder should be crossed by stepping over all the beams of the ladder. Beams may be skipped on your way over the obstacle.
   
• Monkey bars
  Monkey bars must be crossed by swinging across all the bars from one side to the other without falling to the ground.
   
• Over and under
  The Over & Under should be crossed by climbing over the high beams and crawling under the low beams.
   
• Rope me up
  Rope me Up should be crossed by climbing up the steep gravel wall, making use of the rope for assistance is permitted.
   
• Potholes
  The Potholes should be crossed by jumping over them. Should you fall into the water then you can climb op the bunker and continue to the next pothole.
   
• Under Cover
  Under Cover should be crossed by leopard crawling underneath the structure from one side to the other.
   
• Farmer’s Walk
  The Farmer’s walk should be done by picking up 2 water buckets and carrying them around the designated route. Male and female will have different weights to carry and will be marked as such.
   
• Wall of shame
  The Wall of Shame must be crossed by climbing up on the approach side of the obstacle and then crossing the obstacle between the 2 horizontal beams. Thereafter climb down on the other side of the obstacle.
   
• Vertical drop
  The Wall of Shame must be crossed by climbing up on the approach side of the obstacle and then crossing the obstacle between the 2 horizontal beams. Thereafter climb down on the other side of the obstacle.
   
• Balance beam
  The Balance Beam can be crossed by climbing up the beam on the one side and climbing / jumping down the beam on the opposite side.
   
• Flippin tyre
  The Flippin Tyre should be completed by flipping the tyre from outside the designated zone, across the designated zone and back. On the turning point the tyre should touch the ground outside the designated zone.
   
• Tower of trust
  The Tower of Trust can be crossed by climbing the tower making use of the tyres. The competitors must then climb over the tower and slide down the tower on the opposite side.
   
• Stairway to heaven
  The Stairway to Heaven should be crossed by climbing up the cargo net on either approaching on the inside or the outside of the cargo net. When you reach the top you must navigate your way across the horizontal beams.
   
• Pig pleasure
  The Pig Pleasure must be crossed by crawling under the barbed wire from one side of the obstacle to the other.
   
• Mine field
  The Mine Field must be crossed by not stepping on the grass in between the foot pods.
   
• Cable car
  The Cable Car can be crossed by taking hold of the upper cable and sliding your feet across on the lower cable.
   
• Slip n slide
  The Slip n Slide should simply be executed by sliding / crawling down the slide path.
   
• Mud monster
  Mud Monster will be crossed by entering the obstacle on one side of the obstacle and then walking / climbing / crawling your way to the other side.
   
• Conundrum
  Conundrum should be crossed by getting over all 3 drums without touching the ground underneath.
   
• Tyre pull
  The Tyre Pull should be executed by pulling a tyre along the designated path back to the original starting position.
